Letaya Rolling Cabinet with Detachable Wheels (R694)

Garage Storage

The Best Rolling Garage Cabinets

Tall, narrow and on wheels. Useful when the layout is not settled — as long as you load the bottom heavy and know what the casters are not rated for.

Heads up: buy through a link here and we earn a commission from Amazon, at no extra cost to you. It never changes which product we rank first — how that works.

The short answer

Letaya's R694 is the rolling cabinet to buy: it publishes 0.8 mm steel thickness and 180 lb per shelf — both, which nothing else in this group manages — and the wheels detach so it goes from mobile to planted once the layout settles. Load the bottom shelves heavy whatever you buy, because tall and narrow on casters is a tipping shape and no maker here publishes a caster rating.

When mobility is actually worth it

A rolling cabinet costs roughly the same as a fixed one, is shallower, holds less, and is less stable. It is the right purchase in three specific situations and the wrong one otherwise.

  • The layout is not settled. You have just moved in, or you are mid-project, and committing a cabinet to a wall feels premature. A rolling cabinet defers that decision.
  • You rent. Anchoring a cabinet to someone else's studs is a conversation you may not want.
  • The garage has to be cleared periodically. For a car show, a party, a vehicle that only comes in sometimes. Rolling everything to one wall takes ten minutes.

If none of those apply, buy a fixed cabinet from the best garage storage cabinets — more capacity, more depth, more stability, same money.

Scroll the table sideways on a narrow screen.

Letaya is the only one publishing both a steel thickness and a per-shelf figure, which is why it leads. GangMei has the best compartment design on the page and publishes no load figures at all — not per shelf, not per drawer, not total.

The caster gap

Worth stating as clearly as possible: a cabinet claiming 180 lb per shelf across four shelves is claiming 720 lb of load, and every pound of it goes through four casters that nobody has rated.

That is the weakest link in this entire category, and it is unaddressed across the board. Practical consequences:

  • Do not load a rolling cabinet to its published shelf ratings and then expect to roll it. Move it empty or lightly loaded.
  • Letaya's detachable wheels sidestep the problem entirely. Take them off once it is positioned, and the load goes through the cabinet base onto the slab like any fixed cabinet.
  • GangMei's casters are removable too, for the same reason and with the same benefit.

GangMei's four locks: the best idea here

GangMei's WH-ZED-B has four separately lockable areas: the upper cabinet, two full-extension drawers, and the lower cabinet. That is unusual and genuinely useful in two situations — a shared garage where two people need their own locked space, and a rental or workshop where you want tools secured but seasonal gear accessible.

It also publishes full-extension drawer slides explicitly, which matters because a three-quarter-extension drawer hides its back third from you forever. And pegboard on three faces makes a rolling cabinet into rolling wall storage.

The catch, again: no load ratings anywhere. It is the best-designed and least-documented cabinet on the page.

Width buys stability

Yizosh's 43.3-inch-wide cabinet is the most stable rolling unit here for the simple reason that it is wider — a 43-inch base is far harder to tip than a 31-inch one at the same height. It also has the most interior volume and a published 180 lb per shelf.

What it does not have is drawers or a clear path: 43 inches of rolling cabinet needs somewhere to roll to, which rules out the gap beside a car. If your garage has a clear floor, the wide one is the better buy.

Ventilation, quietly

Kelueo publishes ventilation holes, and in a cabinet holding solvents, fuel cans, paint or damp gear that is a real feature rather than a detail. A sealed steel box in an unheated garage condenses inside; a vented one does not.

The same logic is why the pegboard-sided benches and cabinets elsewhere on this site mention ventilation — perforated panels breathe. If what you are storing is chemicals, this belongs in your decision.

  • Detachable wheels: mobile while you are setting the garage up, planted once you are not
  • Three-point lock with thickened rods
  • Thirty-minute assembly, with tools in the box

Where it doesn’t

  • 15.75 in. deep — shallow, same as the rest of this rolling group
  • No caster load rating, which is the spec that decides whether the wheels survive 720 lb of shelf load
  • No warranty terms published

What the maker publishes

  • 71 in. H x 30 in. W x 16 in. D
  • Pegboard on three sides (door panels plus cabinet sides), 8 hooks included
  • Four separately lockable areas: upper cabinet, two full-extension drawers, lower cabinet

Where it wins

  • Four independently locked compartments — the right answer for a shared garage or a tenant situation
  • Full-extension drawer slides, stated explicitly, so you reach the back of the drawer
  • Pegboard on three faces makes a rolling cabinet into rolling wall storage
  • Casters remove entirely for a stationary setup, rather than just locking

Where it doesn’t

  • No load ratings published at all — not per shelf, not per drawer, not total
  • 16 in. deep: shallow, and the pegboard sides mean it does not sit flat against a wall
  • Tall and narrow on casters is a tipping shape; load the bottom heavy

#4Best for cheapest rolling cabinet

Kelueo 71" Rolling Cabinet (K-BT-GGJG-H)

7.5/10our score, from published specs

The budget rolling cabinet done sensibly: three-point lock, vents, anti-tip. Shallow, and the per-shelf rating is missing.

What the maker publishes

  • 71 in. H x 31.5 in. W x 15.4 in. D
  • 5 tiers of space, 4 adjustable shelves
  • Three-point locks, dual keys; anti-tip design

Where it wins

  • Cheapest rolling lockable cabinet here, and it still has a three-point lock
  • Ventilation holes, which genuinely matter if you store solvents or damp gear
  • Anti-tip design called out explicitly on a tall rolling cabinet
  • 92.5 lb of steel at this price is more metal than the figure suggests

Where it doesn’t

  • Total capacity is claimed but no per-shelf rating is published
  • 15.4 in. deep is the shallowest rolling cabinet in this group
  • No caster rating

The alternatives worth comparing

If what you want is drawers you can trust, the tool-storage category publishes 100 lb per-drawer slide ratings and this one publishes none. If what you want is a rolling work surface with storage, the best rolling workbenches sit at 37.5 inches and park under a shelf.

And if the garage is genuinely tight, the one-car garage page works through whether a rolling cabinet has anywhere to roll to in the first place.

Questions people actually ask

Is a rolling cabinet a good idea in a garage?

While the layout is unsettled, yes — a cabinet you can move is a cabinet you are not committed to a wall with. Once the layout is settled, a fixed cabinet of the same money holds more and is more stable. Letaya's detachable wheels are the neat answer: mobile now, planted later.

Are rolling cabinets stable?

Tall and narrow on casters is an inherently tipping shape, so load the bottom shelves heavy and the top shelves light, always. Yizosh's 43-inch-wide unit is the most stable here simply because it is wide; the 31-inch units are the ones to be careful with.

What are the casters rated for?

Nothing is published, by any of them. That is the gap that should bother you most on a cabinet claiming 180 lb per shelf across four shelves, because the casters carry all of it. Kelueo and Letaya both publish a total capacity and neither publishes a caster rating.

Rolling cabinet or rolling tool chest?

A cabinet gives you shelves behind doors; a chest gives you drawers with a published slide rating. For bulky items, the cabinet. For organized hand tools, the chest — and the chest category actually publishes its ratings. See the best tool chests for a garage.

How deep are rolling garage cabinets?

Shallow: 15.4 to 19.6 inches across this group. That is the physics of a rolling cabinet — deeper means more tipping moment. It also means a 27-gallon tote will not fit inside any of them.
