By using this site you accept these terms. The short version: the information here is published in good faith but comes with no warranty, specifications should be verified against the manufacturer before you buy, and anything involving electrical work, gas appliances or loads above a car needs a qualified professional and your local code — not a web page.

What the content is, and is not

Everything here is general consumer information about garage equipment, published in good faith and based on manufacturers' published specifications, warranty terms and owner-report patterns. Our methodology states precisely what each pick rests on.

It is not professional advice. Specifically, it is not electrical, structural, mechanical, gas-fitting, construction or legal advice, and it is not a substitute for a licensed professional, a manufacturer's instructions, or your local building and electrical codes.

Safety — read this part

Several categories on this site involve real physical risk, and we would rather say so bluntly than bury it.

  • Capacity figures are the manufacturer's, not ours, and they assume correct installation into the specified substrate. We have not tested them.
  • Sizing guidance is a starting point. Heater sizing depends on your insulation, climate, ceiling height and air changes; lighting depends on your ceiling height and surfaces. Use the numbers here to scope a decision, then confirm for your building.
  • Follow the manufacturer's instructions over anything written here. If they conflict, theirs govern — they wrote the warranty.
  • Your local code governs over both. Codes vary by jurisdiction and change over time.

We work hard on accuracy and we correct errors promptly when they are reported — see the editorial policy — but we do not warrant that the site is free of errors, that specifications are current, that a product is still available, or that any particular result will follow from using the information here.

Specifications and prices

  • Verify specifications with the manufacturer before you buy. Makers revise products, change suppliers and alter listings without notice, and a figure correct when written can be wrong later.
  • Prices are fetched live from the retailer and are indicative only. The price at checkout is the price that applies. Where no live price is available the page says "Check price on Amazon" rather than showing a stale figure.
  • Availability is the retailer's. We do not sell anything and hold no stock.

Purchases are with the retailer
